The Saltash Regatta and Waterside Festival has been and gone this past weekend and we were very lucky with the weather! After panicking all week with forecast thunder storms, we were blessed with a beautifully sunny day on the Saturday and a bright day on the Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately it was terrible weather on the Sunday morning, but you can’t win them all!
97 exhibitors joined us, ranging from small local charities through to large food vendors that travel the country. That’s not forgetting the HUGE inflatables from Event Bouncy Castle Hire.
The day started with FTaS Group sorting the road closures. Then Diverse Events arriving at the waterfront at 6am to put up gazebos, decorations and welcome the exhibitors. This was later aided by the Saltash Air Cadets and the Saltash Regatta Committee.
Once everyone was set up, the day started to take shape with some amazing exhibitors taking over Old Ferry Road, Waterside Green and Jubilee Green. The Civic Parade, Youth Parade and Childrens Parade marched down Fore Street, Lower Fore Street and along Old Ferry Road with the sounds of Saltash Town Band, Wreckers Morris and the chants of every youth group in Saltash!
After the parade the Mayor took to the stage to thank everyone for coming before giving out some well-deserved awards.
The whole weekend had non-stop entertainment from pop-up acoustic singers, lazer tag, morris dancers, Livewire, inflatables, Billy Wiz, Circus Skills, a skate ramp, gig racing, a wild swim and even a cardboard boat race!
The cardboard boat race was a new addition to the Saltash Regatta, with only three entries, but around 6 have already promised a boat next year!
1st Place – Endsleigh Garden Centre
2nd Place & Brunel Award – Saltash Maritime Cadets
3rd Place & Titanic Award – Dangerous Dad’s.
The weekend was finished with the turning on of the new Waterside Lights, Fireworks and a visit from the Queen.
A huge thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors, entertainment acts, local groups and of course everyone for coming out.
“Thanks for last weekend we had a great time. We made £100 donation to Treliske Breast Cancer in appreciation of our enjoyment of the day. Look forward to next year Cheers” – Travelling Diner
“Thank you very much for having us at this year’s Saltash Regatta. We’re really pleased to be back and would love to trade again next year! Thank you very much again for your role in organising the festival, and of course for having us there!” – South Devon Pizza Company
