After previously holding the #LoveSaltash markets in Wesley Road, Saltash we were asked to run a one off street market as part of the Saltash Festival of Arts. Learning from our previous Saltash street markets, we moved it to Lower Fore Street (much to the delight of the majority of shops on Lower Fore Street!)
With 13 spaces filled and even a bouncy castle coming along, we were ready for a fantastic day. Naturally, something went wrong. The bouncy castle pulled out the day before and 5 exhibitors didn’t turn up. Still – we had 7 brilliant exhibitors offering a range of products and services. We even had some owls come along!
FTaS Group Traffic Management did a great job of ensuring the road was closed safely, as always.
A notable exhibitor was Victoria of T’s Pots. Tori is a young exhibitor at only 9 years old! At the end of the day she happily told me she sold a whole 28 pots!
Throughout the day we were joined by “Time & Tide Waits” as well as “Ocean City Harmony” (formally “Western Approach Close Harmony”)
With many Saltash businesses looking towards the future and Saltash’s community ever growing with the addition of the new pop up shop, the #LoveSaltash Street Markets may make a come back. The #LoveSaltash Street Markets are not a new initiative, we’ve been asked by local Saltash businesses, the public, councillors, chamber members and notable members of the Saltash community to bring the markets back to Saltash in the hope it drives footfall to Saltash so the wider community can see what great things Saltash has to offer.
